TCU honors fallen soldiers in veterans ceremony



Wreath laid in honor of fallen Horned Frog heroes

TCU alumni, administrators and others gathered at a ceremony on campus to honor TCU war veterans on Sunday, Nov. 12 at 3 p.m. The ceremony took place at the plaza in front of Reed Hall, under a small grove of trees with a gap showing a patch of blue sky, representing Horned Frog heroes who will not return. TCU Chancellor Victor J. Boschini, Jr., Secretary of State Roger Williams and Richard Casillas (father of Landon Casillas, 2004 TCU graduate killed in a helicopter accident) participated in the ceremony.

TCU’s joint ROTC Color Guard presented colors at the beginning of the ceremony, followed by the national anthem. The , Texas and Mr. Casillas each made a few remarks and highlighted the Veterans Plaza and the importance of honoring veterans. The Chancellor announced that Landon Casillas’ name will be added to the Veterans Plaza plaque. Following the speeches, Lt. Col Golda Eldridge of TCU’s Air Force ROTC and a cadet laid a wreath in honor of fallen soldiers.
