Mayor Betsy Price declares Dec. 21 "Go Purple Day"

Fort Worth, Texas

12/20/2011

All Fort Worth residents are encouraged to wear TCU jerseys, caps and other purple gear on Wednesday.

"A third straight Mountain West Conference football championship for our Frogs was no coincidence,” Price said. “Add those championships to four straight 10-win seasons and seven straight bowl appearances, and the pattern of excellence is clear. It’s about leadership, commitment and dedication by all involved — and we are all very proud."

“We appreciate more than just excellence on the field,” Price said. “We’re also proud of TCU’s outstanding academic reputation. The academic success of TCU’s student-athletes plays a crucial role in making Fort Worth one of the most livable cities in the nation. Whether it’s on or off the field, the TCU leadership, faculty, students and athletes are invaluable community assets and proud ambassadors."

The Poinsettia Bowl can be viewed locally at 7 p.m. Wednesday on ESPN.
