Harris College hosts spring Faculty Research Symposiums

Harris College of Nursing & Health Sciences is hosting a Faculty Research Symposium on various spring dates at TCU. The events are free and open to attend; refreshments will be served. There were three research symposiums in the fall and there are three this spring. Each of the symposiums highlight two faculty who are working on grants, manuscripts, or books.

Presenters:
Dr. David Jenkins (SOWO): “Family Relationships of Older Lesbian and Gay Stepgrandparents”
Dr. Susan Rugari (NURS): “Equine Facilitated Psychotherapy (EFP): What is it?”

Presenters:
Dr. Joel Mitchell (KINE): “Exercise in the heat: from electrolytes to heat shock proteins”
Dr. Jo Nell Wells (NURS), Dr. Tracy Dietz (SOWO), Dr. Carolyn Cagle (NURS): “Research Trajectory for study of Mexican American Family Caregivers”

Presenters:
Dr. Raul Prezas (COSD): "Phonological Inventories of Spanish-Speaking Children"
Dr. Debbie Rhea (KINE): “Is the color of my skin a protector or risk for an eating disorder?”

“This new activity will highlight many of our outstanding researchers,” said Dr. Debbie Rhea, symposium coordinator and Harris College’s associate dean for research. “We have so much going on in our college and very few individuals in each of the departments have an idea what other colleagues are doing.”
