Fort Worth, TX

As the business world shrinks, the need for tolerance, patience, flexibility and interpersonal skills grows. Congresswoman Kay Granger will be joined by workplace experts Jane Hyun and Audrey Lee for "Transformational Leadership: Cultural Fluency and Multi-Cultural Negotiations" on Sept. 28 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The event will take place in the ballroom of the Brown-Lupton University Union on the TCU campus. Cost is $150 per person, or $1,300 for a table for 10, which includes continental breakfast, lunch and course materials. Register by Sept. 23 at www.neeleyexec.tcu.edu.

The interactive workshop will give demonstrate how to develop cultural fluency and work with multi-cultural teams, and explore specific ways in which culture might profoundly impact interpersonal dynamics, including communication, workplace behaviors, and decision-making.

Congresswoman Kay Granger will lead the discussion on transformational leadership. Granger represents the 12th District of Texas and is the only Republican woman from Texas to serve in the U.S. House of Representatives. Previously a school teacher, small business owner and mother, Granger entered politics in 1989 when elected to the Fort Worth City Council, where she showed a knack for attacking problems, not people. She was elected mayor in 1991 and to the U.S. Congress in 1996. She stepped into a national leadership role based on her work with Iraqi women who now either hold elected positions or are leaders in their communities.
