Fort Worth, TX

DailySkiff.com, the information and news web site of the TCU Daily Skiff at Texas Christian University, has been tagged by the Society of Professional Journalists as one of the nation’s top three affiliated Web sites in collegiate journalism.

Its staff was named a national finalist in the SPJ’s Mark of Excellence Award competition. SPJ names a national winner and two finalists in each of 39 categories in newspaper, magazine, radio and television broadcasts and online journalism. The winners and national finalists are selected from among the 12 winners of the regional SPJ competitions. At the regional level, more than 3,600 entries were submitted in the various categories.

For the second consecutive year, DailySkiff.com was the first-place MOE winner in Region 8, which encompasses student news organizations in Texas and Oklahoma. This year’s first-place MOE regional winners also included the Daily Skiff as best daily newspaper and Image magazine as best magazine.

The DailySkiff.com staff will be recognized at the national SPJ journalism convention in August in Indianapolis where this spring’s Web editor, Julieta Chiquillo, will be among 12 student journalists on The Working Press newspaper covering it.
