TCU’s Institute of Child Development presents Texas Judicial Summit

Fort Worth, TX

5/15/2009

TCU’s Institute of Child Development presented the Texas Judicial Summit: Improving Outcomes for Children in Care on Monday, May 11 – Wednesday, May 13 at Texas Christian University. This training conference focused on how to improve successful placements, and enhance the assessments of children, through the use of attachment theory and model safety plans.  Learning about these issues will empower judges, attorneys, and child welfare professionals to better serve the children and families who rely on their decisions.

Nationally recognized speakers explored issues of attachment and bonding between child and caregiver, and emerging concepts related to child development and neurodevelopment. This conference was sponsored by The Texas Children’s Justice Act, a project that has grant funds available to support the training of child-protection professionals in an effort to improve the investigation, prosecution, and administrative and judicial handling of cases of child abuse and neglect.
