Nursing expert Alyce Schultz speaks here April 3

In collaboration with the TCU Center for Evidence-Based Practice and Research (CEBPR), nursing expert Dr. Alyce Schultz of Arizona State University (ASU) will speak on Tuesday, April 3 from 2 to 4 p.m. in the Bass Building living room. The presentation, titled "Promoting a Spirit of Inquiry: Creating a Culture that Sustains Evidence-Based Practice and Research," is hosted by Harris College of Nursing & Health Sciences. Refreshments will be provided.

"Dr. Schultz is an internally recognized expert in the area of evidence-based practice and research," said Susan Mace Weeks, director of the TCU CEBPR. "Her passion is helping bedside staff nurses identify clinical questions and develop the answers to those questions. Her ability to engage staff level nurses in the research process is unparalleled."

Dr. Schultz, associate director of the Center for the Advancement of Evidence-Based Practice and clinical professor at ASU, brings national experience as a mentor and educator of staff nurses. Prior to her position at ASU, she worked for nearly 12 years at the Maine Medical Center, where she primarily promoted evidence-based practice and the conduct of research.

For over four decades, Dr. Schultz has practiced in many facets of nursing, focusing on community health and teaching undergraduate and graduate research. Her research has been used globally and she has written over 25 peer-reviewed publications.
