New group of Community Scholars will join TCU student body this fall

TCU has announced the names of this year’s class of Community Scholars who will be enrolled this fall. They join a program which the university originated in 1999 to target specific area high schools with scholarship funds in an effort to keep TCU a preferred choice among locally talented students.

These freshmen are: Emmanuel Asaolu, Terrence Bunkley and Jared Stratford of Dunbar High School; Francisco Cano, Bich Dieu, Muniza Javeed, Yen Phan, Araceli Renteria, Isela Renteria, Walberto Resendez and Thuy Nguyen of Northside High School; Carolyn Castellanos, Nestor Gonzalez and Filicia Hernandez of Diamond Hill Jarvis High School.

Also Yanci Deng, Santiago Mercado, Hongnhan Nguyen, Amun Shori and Kim Tran of Sam Houston High School, Alicia Franklin, Mayra Rodriguez and Berenice Sandoval of Trimble Tech High School; Laura Vasquez of Southwest High School and Darius Yaites of South Hills High School.

Others are Ashton Bass of Trimble Tech who has received an "Absolute Excellence" Scholarship and Elisa Tran of Sam Houston, recipient of an Hispanic Women's Network Scholarship.
