Routes to TCU will be altered by nearby road construction taking place as part of the Southwest Parkway Project.   Lanes on the Hulen Street bridge above Union Pacific Railroad’s Davidson Yard will be closed, beginning Tuesday, April 6.   Crews will first close the north and southbound left lanes of Hulen from Stonegate Boulevard to Hulen Place,  so crews may remove parts of the concrete medians to allow temporary pavement to be placed.

Upon completion of this work, traffic on northbound Hulen Street will be diverted on to the west half of the  Hulen Street Bridge.  This will create one lane of traffic in each direction on the west half of the Hulen Street bridge above the train tracks.  The lane closures are expected to last until April 2011.

Crews closed one lane on eastbound West Vickery Boulevard immediately west of  Hulen Street as of last Thursday, April 1.  This closure is necessary so crews may proceed with construction related to the Southwest Parkway at the Union Pacific Railroad Yard immediately to the south.   The lane closure is expected to remain until April 2011.

Crews are closing both the Rosedale Street connector entrance and exit to I-30 as of Thursday, April 1. These closures are necessary so that the existing bridges can be demolished and new ones can be constructed.  Due to this construction, drivers will no longer be able to make a direct connection to Forest Park Boulevard off East Vickery Boulevard.  All eastbound traffic on East Vickery Boulevard will be redirected onto eastbound I-30 under the Rosedale Street connector ramps.  In addition, the right lane on eastbound I-30 will be turned into an exit only lane for University Drive.  Crews will update all overhead signs to show this change.   The construction of the new bridges is expected to be completed by April 2011.

As construction continues on Scharbauer Hall, changes to walking paths will be made. The fence on the west side of Scharbauer Hall will be moved closer to Frog Fountain, eliminating a walkway between the two. To walk north and south across the Campus Commons, cross in the center between the residence halls. A pedestrian gate will soon be available on the fence between Reed and Jarvis Halls to eliminate the need to walk to University Drive to travel north and south between buildings.

July 16, 2008

Beginning Wednesday afternoon, July 16th, access to the ramp into Sadler Hall will be restricted. The ramp is expected to be blocked until late Friday afternoon, July 25th.  Individuals with mobility concerns may have a difficult time entering the building, unless they can climb and descend stairs.  Individuals needing access via the ramp should contact the Center for Academic Services at 817-257-7486 for assistance.

In addition, access to the west side of the campus from the north door of Sadler Hall is not available at this time.

As construction continues on the new Brown-Lupton University Union, the fencing surrounding the building will be extended further south in front of Moncrief Hall to accomodate landscapers. Pedestrians will need to find an alternate route when headed west toward Stadium Drive, such as walking behind Moncrief Hall, near the University Recreation Center.

March 5, 2008

Next week, construction crews will begin working on the southeast entrance of the Brown-Lupton Student Center and the entrance to University Career Services. The handicap ramp in this area will be disrupted. Signs will indicate how individuals needing a ramp can access the Student Center during this time.
