TCU's KinderFrogs School graduates largest class

Fort Worth, TX

6/22/2006

KinderFrogs School, TCU’s laboratory pre-school for children with Down syndrome, will graduate its largest class in the school’s history Friday, June 23 at 6 p.m. The graduation ceremony, recognizing seven students, takes place at the Dee J. Kelly Alumni & Visitors Center at 2800 Stadium Drive.

“It is most exciting to see the children graduate from KinderFrogs,” said Sam Deitz, dean of the School of Education, “These are children who came to us when they were only 18 months old and they were facing important challenges. Now they ready for the next step in their education. Their progress is remarkable and their abilities are now most impressive. TCU, the School of Education, and the KinderFrogs School have worked hard to help these children succeed. Their success is our greatest reward.”

“We are excited to honor our largest KinderFrogs graduating class. They have made great strides and it is a privilege and honor to be celebrating their many successes and this milestone with them and their families,” said Marilyn Tolbert, director and Jean W. Roach Chair of Laboratory Schools. “Each child has been placed in an appropriate learning environment for the 2006-2007 school year and we are looking forward to hearing of their continued growth and development.”

TCU welcomed their smallest “Horned Frogs” in 2000 and the school became a reality through the energy and commitment of a group of dedicated parents, donors and community members. The KinderFrogs School provides early childhood educational services to children with Down syndrome and other developmental delays, as well as typically developing children. The KinderFrogs School serves young toddlers and pre-schoolers ages 18 months to five years.

KinderFrogs School also serves as an on-campus training site, providing research, training and service opportunities for TCU students and faculty in School of Education and in other university programs. It is licensed through the Texas Department of Protective and Regulatory Services.
