FTDM Department presents film series

Fort Worth, TX

9/22/2011

TCU’s Film, TV and Digital Media Department announces the Fall 2011 Thursday Night Film Series. Each week’s program includes a cartoon as well as a classic movie and introductory remarks about the making of the movie, its stars and its director. The series is open to the public, and admission is free. Donations will be accepted to offset licensing fees FTDM must pay for the rights to publicly show the movies. Screenings are at 7 p.m. Thursday nights in Room 164, Moudy Building South. Parking is available behind Moudy South.

The series, which opened Sept. 8, includes a variety of film genres and styles, from classic comedies to war pictures to musicals. This fall the series includes several aviation-themed movies, since the Texas Aviation Centennial Committee is sponsoring two of the screenings: Dawn Patrol (1938) (which played Sept. 15) and The Great Waldo Pepper starring Robert Redford.

Dr. Joan McGettigan, associate professor, has presented the Thursday Night Film Series since 1998. Viewers come from all over the Metroplex, and those who attend are encouraged to request their favorite movies for future semesters.
