Neeley School of Business hosts first Values and Ventures Competition for business students

The Neeley School of Business at TCU is hosting teams from five universities across the country, plus a home team, for the first annual Values and Ventures Competition, April 15, 2011. The national competition encourages students to create a new venture that has strong business viability, value and meaning for the organization, and significantly improves quality of life.

 

Student teams from TCU, Babson College, Belmont University, New York University, University of Houston and Wake Forest University will present their plans to judges throughout the day on Friday, April 15, at the Neeley School of Business at TCU. Winning plans will demonstrate specific ways the new ventures create value and meaning, such as contributing to sustainability, innovations in the health and life sciences, or opportunities for under-represented groups in business.

 

Judges are Jeff Beigert, founder of Biegert Feeds; Chris Kraft, co-founder of Splash Media; Robbie Douglas, Director of Business Development for the North Texas Super Bowl XLV Host Committee; Sol D. Kanthack, co-founder of brightroom; Colin McConnell, director of investor relations and special assistant to the managing partners at Satori Capital; and Ann Webb, founder of Skin Organics.

 

“With few business plan competitions offered at the undergraduate level across the nation, we are proud to offer an opportunity for undergraduate students that focuses on combining business with values,” said Brad Hancock, director of the Neeley Entrepreneurship Program at the Neeley School of Business at TCU.

 

Ann McDonald, who directs the Values and Ventures Program at the Neeley School, said she is looking forward to the student presentations. “I’m excited to see how they reflect their personal values and make a meaningful impact through their business plans.”
