Former director of U.S. Geological Survey to speak at TCU

Dr. Charles “Chip” Groat will be speaking at the TCU geology department seminar at noon, March 3 in Room 217 in the Sid Richardson Building on the TCU campus. The former Director of the U.S. Geological Survey and University of Texas geological sciences professor will discuss “Buffering Hurricane Impacts: The Case for Coastal Restoration in Louisiana.”

Groat has accumulated more than 30 years of professional experience in geology and has served on many congressional boards and committees regarding the environment and research. He has published more than 85 reports, maps and abstracts in his field and given more than 300 speeches and presentations on related topics. He is a Fellow in the American Association for the Advancement of Science and the Geological Society of America.
