Chancellor Boschini addresses athletic conference changes - FAQ

What makes a conference choose a particular school for expansion?

A lot of it is driven by location and staying within the geographic footprint of the conference. Having schools close in proximity provides travel partners for league members and limits expenses. Conferences will be interested in expanding the television reach of their league by adding new markets that still fall within their footprint. Facilities and success of a school’s athletics program are other considerations.

What’s the future like for TCU?

TCU is defined by momentum, and the future is very bright for TCU. The Mountain West Conference is an outstanding home and perfect fit for the Horned Frogs. With the addition of Boise State, the league is positioned well for the future.

What kinds of championships have TCU teams won?

TCU is one of just two schools (Florida) nationally this season to play in a BCS game in football, reach the College World Series in baseball and win a national championship in another sport (rifle). Additionally, Patterson received nine National Coach of the Year honors.

What new athletic facilities has TCU built in recent years?

TCU has made major facility upgrades over the last decade, contributing to an immeasurable impact on recruiting. Improvements can be seen across the board for all sports. Most recently, and perhaps most visible, the Sam Baugh Indoor Practice Facility was completed in 2007 with the Dutch Meyer Athletic Complex and Abe Martin Academic Enhancement Center opening in 2008. In addition to football, the Sam Baugh Indoor Practice Facility has also seen extensive use by the baseball and soccer teams.

What kinds of attendance records has TCU set in years past?

The 2009-10 athletics season saw TCU set single game and single-season attendance records in baseball, football, soccer and volleyball.
