Sony and Neeley School of Business at TCU host marketing competition featuring new camcorder

Fort Worth, TX

3/23/2010

The new Sony HD bloggie™ camera will take center stage this weekend, March 26-27, as MBA students from across the country meet at TCU to compete for cash prizes in the third annual Neeley Sales & Marketing Strategy Case Competition, sponsored by Sony Electronics Inc. (www.sony.com ) and hosted by the Neeley School of Business at TCU (www.neeley.tcu.edu ).

The bloggie™ camera offers simple, high quality MP4 video and still photo shooting, as well as easy Web-sharing capabilities. Students received information on the bloggie™ camera last week to give them time to visit electronics retailers, familiarize themselves with the product and conduct informal research among friends and family.

TCU MBA students and their counterparts from Purdue (Indiana), Pepperdine (California), UCLA, Duke (N. Carolina), Notre Dame (Indiana), Georgia Tech, Howard University (Washington DC), Oklahoma State, Brigham Young (Utah), University of Utah, University of Iowa, University of Minnesota, University of Kansas, University of Wisconsin, Drexel University (Philadelphia), UT Austin, Rice, Baylor, SMU, UTD and Texas A&M will take part. Students will not be working together as a school, but will be assigned to random teams.

The MBA students will meet their teammates Friday evening, March 26, and the competition takes place Saturday, March 27, at the Neeley School. Each team will have five hours to work on the case and 10 minutes to present their recommendations to high-level Sony marketing executives. Winners will be announced Saturday evening including prizes of $6,000 for grand prize, $4,000 for second and $2,000 for third as well as the latest Sony products.

Case competitions are a popular means for MBA students to apply classroom knowledge and their own experience to a real opportunity, make an impression on marketing executives from a major international company, meet other MBA students, and win cash prizes.
