Student Move-In Information

Fort Worth, TX

8/8/2006

TCU is in the process of changing the center of campus in order to become a more residential and pedestrian-friendly campus. This summer, construction on the new campus commons began in earnest. While necessary, the campus changes will definitely present more challenges this year in regards to residence hall move-in. The information below is the most current the university has in regards to construction and its impact on move-in. Please read the instructions that follow and remain patient as all students are anxious to move-in during this abbreviated time frame. Also note the Texas heat is excessive this time of year, so please take all precautions to keep cool and hydrated during your move-in. Parking instructions:

  • When you arrive on campus, look for the signs directing you to the appropriate parking lot for your residence hall (please make sure you know the name of your residence hall before arriving on campus).
  • Once parked, students will need to walk to their assigned residence hall for their room key and a dashboard-parking tag.
  • Fill-in the dashboard parking tag and give it to the lot attendant (the dashboard parking tag is your ticket to unload. Without it, your car will not be allowed to enter the unloading area).
  • The lot attendant will allow the car to proceed to the unloading area once space is available.
  • Each student is requested to use only ONE vehicle during move-in.

Unloading instructions:

  • Unload EVERYTHING from your vehicle and place it on the curb by your residence hall.
  • TCU volunteers will help unload belongings between 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.
  • It is advisable to pack your belongings as if you will have to carry them to your room.
  • Once all the items are unloaded, please move the car back to a parking lot as directed by TCU Police.
  • Vehicles will not be allowed at the unloading zone for more than 15 minutes. Unaccompanied vehicles violate the FIRE CODE and will be subject to ticketing and towing. Someone from your party must stay with your vehicle in the unloading zone the entire time it is there.
  • If you are traveling alone, we will assist you.

If you have questions about this or any other aspect regarding move-in, please contact Residential Services at housing@tcu.edu or 817-257-7865.
