TCU: NEWS & EVENTS

Fall exhibition at Fort Worth Contemporary Arts

Fort Worth, TX

8/27/2009

Avish Khebrehzadeh’s exhibition at Fort Worth Contemporary opens Friday, Aug. 28 and  will continue through Oct. 11. TCU’s newest gallery is at 2900 W. Berry Street.

Focus of the show is the installation Solace, So Old, So New, consisting of three large, layered drawings onto which an animation is projected. The artist’s interest in literature and her personal background is often suggested in her work, linked to childhood memories of her upbringing in post-revolutionary Tehran, Iran and her direct exposure to the city’s literary figures. Khebrehzadeh moved to Rome to study and is now living and working in Washington D.C.

Khebrehzadeh has had recent solo exhibitions at Albion Gallery, London and New York (2008); MACRO, Museum of Contemporary Art, Rome, (2007); Rhode Island School of Design Museum, Providence (2006 and 2009). In 2003 Khebrehzadeh was the recipient of a Leone d’Oro at the 50th Venice Biennale.
