TCU continues working toward creating an environment rich in personal interaction where intellectual vitality and social engagement intersect. As such, construction projects progress during the summer months. Below is a roundup of construction projects occurring on campus currently.

Scharbauer Hall

Construction is well under way on the 73,000 square-foot home for the AddRan College of Liberal Arts and the John V. Roach Honors College. The project is scheduled to be completed in December 2009. The facility will be one of the University's first U.S. Green Building Council's Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certified facilities.

Sherley Hall

After 50 years on campus, Sherley Hall is undergoing a $16 million renovation project and will reopen as a coed dorm in fall 2009 to allow more room for incoming male students. It is undergoing renovations to make the residence hall more accessible and compatible with other facilities and meet student residential expectations. It is scheduled to be complete in the summer of 2009 and is designed for U.S. Green Building Council's Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification.

Milton Daniel Hall

Renovation on Milton Daniel Hall is scheduled to begin in June of 2009. The renovation will provide 301 beds for students in the John V. Roach Honors College. Improvements include a variety of room layouts, study areas, meeting rooms, a hall for study and leisure activities, general activity space and a private exterior patio for lectures and other functions. Construction is scheduled to be completed in August 2010.

Schieffer School Convergence Lab

The Schieffer School of Journalism announced a renovation and new convergence lab to enhance learning. The Schieffer School Convergence Lab is part of the addition to and renovation of a portion of the Moudy Building South. Construction will begin on the 11,000 square-foot addition and 7,000 square-foot renovation in May 2009. The improvements will include an office suite and conference room, a new media convergence teaching lab, an additional broadcast studio, renovation of the dean's suite and provisions for future faculty offices. The facility is scheduled to be complete in January 2010.

Sadler Hall

On July 1, 2009, the handicap ramp leading into Sadler Hall will close. A temporary ramp and lift will be available at the main entrance on the east side of the building.

Walking Path Changes

As construction continues on Scharbauer Hall, changes to walking paths will be made. The fence on the west side of Scharbauer Hall will be moved closer to Frog Fountain, eliminating a walkway between the two. To walk north and south across the Campus Commons, cross in the center between the residence halls. A pedestrian gate will soon be available in the fence between Reed and Jarvis Halls to facilitate travelling north and south between buildings.
