Fort Worth, TX

1/6/2009

Justin Avery Anderson received a $10,000 scholarship from The Texas Business Hall of Fame Foundation during a luncheon ceremony on November 6, 2008, at the Hilton Anatole in Dallas.

Justin came to TCU after winning the 2005 TCU Texas Youth Entrepreneur of the Year Award for his company, Anderson Trail, which produces and distributes The Original Premium Moist Granola. Now a senior, Justin has seen his company skyrocket from the recipe he cooked up in his mother’s kitchen to a retail success that is carried statewide by Central Market and Whole Foods.

Justin said he was thrilled and extremely appreciative of being selected for the award. “It reinforces the hard work I’ve put into my company and the excellent education and business support I’ve received from TCU,” he said.

Texas Business Hall of Fame Foundation Chairman Jim Young said that the 2008 scholarship recipients represent the best of the young men and women of Texas. “They have an entrepreneurial spirit, high integrity and a strong personal drive,” he stated.

Until this year, the scholarships were limited to graduate students. To date, The Texas Business Hall of Fame has awarded more than $3 million in scholarships to students pursuing an education at Texas’ leading institutions of higher learning.

In addition to the scholarship winners, the Texas Business Hall of Fame honored four Texas business leaders: Dick Evans, chairman and CEO of Cullen/Frost Bankers, Inc.; Mike A. Myers, chairman and president of Myers Financial Corporation; Glen E. Roney, founder, chairman and CEO of Texas Regional Bancshares, Inc. and Texas State Bank and presently a director of Compass Bancshares, Inc.; and Kern Wildenthal, M.D., Ph.D., president of The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center.

The Texas Business Hall of Fame Foundation is a non-profit organization of 75 directors who are business leaders from cities throughout the state. The organization’s mission is to recognize the accomplishments and contributions of Texas business leaders, to perpetuate and inspire the values of entrepreneurial spirit, personal integrity and community leadership in all generations of Texans. www.texasbusiness.org
