1/28/2008

The Fort Worth chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists and TCU’s Schieffer School of Journalism will bring together experienced professionals, young journalists, and students for a comprehensive workshop on the future of journalism Saturday, Feb. 16, 2008.

High school and college students and young professionals seeking a career change will have an opportunity to hear and talk with creative people about the many aspects of today’s journalism profession.

Professionals from newspapers, broadcast, public relations, advertising, magazines, business publications, book and online publishing and photography will discuss opportunities and answer questions from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in TCU’s Moudy south building, home of the Schieffer School of Journalism.

Journalism today involves not just writing, but photography, graphic arts, blogging, on-camera presentations, podcasting, and many other creative and technical communication experiences.

For students the workshop offers information and contacts that can lead to exciting careers in modern journalism.  For young professionals the workshop is an opportunity to learn what is ahead in the fast-changing journalism of today.

Parking is available in the lot east of the Moudy building.  Light refreshments will be served at 8 a.m. in the Moudy south lobby.  The conference main session is at 9 a.m.  Breakout question-and-answer sessions begin at 10 a.m.  A complete list of professional participants will be announced soon.

The workshop is free, but attendees must make reservations by Feb. 13, 2008.  E-mail your reservation to Paul LaRocque at prrock@mac.com for a place at this important career workshop.
